FAQ's

At KQB, your food is first frozen at very low temperatures, then placed in a specialized freeze-drying machine. The moisture is removed through a process called sublimation, which helps preserve the food's original taste, texture, aroma, and nutritional value. Once the process is complete, the food is packed in moisture-resistant packaging to ensure a long shelf life.

Freeze drying is an advanced food preservation technique that removes moisture from frozen food under vacuum conditions. Unlike traditional drying methods, freeze drying preserves the food's structure, flavors, and nutrients more effectively.

When stored properly in a cool, dry place, freeze-dried food can typically last for 12 months or longer while maintaining its quality.

Traditional dehydration uses heat to remove moisture, which can affect the food's taste, texture, appearance, and nutritional value. Freeze drying removes moisture at very low temperatures, helping preserve the food's original flavor, aroma, appearance, and nutrients much more effectively.

This is why freeze-dried food generally offers superior quality and a longer shelf life compared to conventionally dehydrated food.

No. KQB does not add any preservatives or chemicals to increase the shelf life of your food. The extended shelf life is achieved through the freeze-drying process itself, which removes moisture—the primary cause of spoilage and bacterial growth.

The minimum quantity required is 1 kg per unique food item.

Different food items cannot be combined to meet the minimum quantity requirement. For example, 500 g of Dal and 500 g of Ras will not be accepted as a 1 kg order.

Each food item must individually meet the 1 kg minimum requirement.

Food should be submitted in clean, disposable containers or food-grade disposable packaging. This helps maintain hygiene and ensures smooth processing.

We recommend clearly labeling each food item before submission to avoid any confusion during processing.

We aim to return the processed food within 7–14 days, depending on factors such as food type, current order volume, and processing requirements.

One of the biggest advantages of freeze-drying is its ability to preserve the original taste and aroma of food. When properly rehydrated, freeze-dried food retains a taste very close to that of the freshly prepared version.

Many of our customers have shared that their home-cooked food tastes almost identical after rehydration.

Freeze drying is considered one of the best methods for preserving food and retaining nutrients. Since the process occurs at low temperatures, many vitamins, minerals, and nutrients are preserved better than in conventional drying methods.

While minor nutrient loss can occur, the majority of the food's nutritional value remains intact.

Rehydration is simple. Add the appropriate amount of water to the freeze-dried food and allow it to absorb the moisture for a few minutes. The exact amount of water and rehydration time may vary depending on the food item.

Once rehydrated, the food can be heated and consumed just as if it were freshly prepared.

A wide variety of foods can be freeze-dried, including:

  • Ras
  • Dal
  • Sabzi
  • Cooked meals
  • Fruits
  • Sweets
  • Snacks
  • Gravies
  • Traditional homemade foods

If you're unsure whether your food can be freeze-dried, feel free to contact KQB, and we'll be happy to guide you.

Yes. Freeze-dried food is an excellent option for international travel and for sending homemade food to family members living abroad. Since the moisture is removed, the food becomes lighter, easier to store, and has a significantly longer shelf life.

However, customers should always check the food import regulations of the destination country before traveling or shipping food internationally, as rules may vary from country to country. How does KQB freeze dry your food?
